Characters in Taomasters Project - - Queen Yang (楊貴妃): Here is the concept art for Queen Yang. She is regarded as one of the most four beauties in China history. To make our storyline more realistic, we mix historical and fictional characters together. That’s the reason why Queen Yang comes up — a beautiful, mysterious woman in China history. Yellow means empire and royalty on ancient China. Besides, a Peony flower represents Tang Dynasty.
Characters in Taomasters Project – Cang-Ji (藏璣): All the iteration for her takes me 1 month in total. For the first version, the feedback from teammates points out some problem: They think she looks like Tifa (female character in Final Fantasy 7). They think Cang-Ji is supposed to look more well-characterized. Therefore I change her haircut, make her costume more “Tang Dynasty”, and give her a ribbon as her weapon (on her right hand) instead of having a traditional wooden staff.
Characters in Taomasters Project – Chen-Xing (辰星): Chen-Xing is our main male character. His element is “People” element, representing cheerful and positive. His personality is more casual than Cang-Ji, so we think he is supposed to look cute and friendly.
Characters in Taomasters Project – Dark General: Every great RPG game needs a cool bad guy. To make him look mysterious and Chinese-stylized, we research into the bronze armors of ancient Chinese soldiers. Combining the ancient armor with my own imagination, I equip him with a ghost mask, wing-shaped skirt in black, and the horrible pattern on his left arm and both legs’ armor. Representing his element, I put the letter “Sky” in Chinese on his front chest armor.
